News
In these last two years I have worked on a new animation generously supported with a Development Grant by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. It is going to be a large and ambitious project and I am still right in the middle of it.

Srcoll down for the podcast by Culturele Confetti and two fragments:

This podcast (in Dutch) Culturele Confetti is made by Julie Vegter. In this interview she is in conversation with about my work and I am very excited with the result.

Ideally speaking I'd wish I could have given a real presentation in the project space at Retort Ateliers where I have a studio. Due to the COVID-19 measures I decided not to take the risk. I am looking forward to - as soon as it is possible again and when the project is finished- to be able to screen this film on a big screen for a big audience, including you.

For now, please enjoy these two fragments:

FRAGMENT 1 - material in progress

FRAGMENT 2 - material in progress

Warm Wishes,
Daphne

I'd love to invite you to this panel discussion taking place on July 4th at noon (London Time zone). To register

Stop motion is one of the most important means of artistic expression in big screen animation, due to its connection to a centuries-old tradition of puppetry and artisan puppet making. The Czech Republic has long been a benchmark country in the history of animation and, more specifically, stop motion, an art intricately linked to its political and social evolution. We'll invite our speakers to talk about this fascinating technique, the deep-rooted connection to the country's artistic history and how it has evolved at each stage of the country's history and been integrated into the development of new audiovisual techniques.

In the coming weeks I'll have some of my films online open for everyone.

All available films will be added here.

I am convinced that art is best viewed and appreciated in real life settings - in my case - in a theatrical film setting instead of on a laptop or even worse on a smartphone. Nevertheless I’d like to share some work with you online for this period of time.

To start with Meanwhile, looking elsewhere, a film I made in 2014 that is about: ‘Tiny touches, discoveries through the camera lens and the natural sounds of the room. An interplay between the filmmaker as a performer and the desires of her materials.’ Things I long for desperately now. So here it is fully online, I hope you enjoy it:

Come and see my film Drowning at Shadow Kitchen Los Angeles.
A wonderful movie night in Downtown LA!

For De Kunstmeisjes a short text about Keramiekmuseum Princessehof.
